When you read your manifestation goal and something in you pulls the other way, that pushback is information.

This episode is about what's actually happening when the goal your conscious mind wants meets the old beliefs and nervous system predictions already running underneath it.

Jodi walks through a practical, repeatable process for reading that internal conflict instead of affirming over it: notice, regulate, clarify, clear, rewire, act, gather evidence, integrate. The aim is to get your inner world and your real-life action moving in the same direction, because that's when things actually start to shift.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

Your reaction is data about what still needs attention

When you read the intention and something tightens, or that little voice pipes up with “yeah, bull dust,” it's worth paying attention to. That's your beliefs, values and identity running a background check, and your guard dog and forecaster reading what the goal predicts. Treat it as information about what still needs your attention, rather than a sign the goal is out of reach.

Not every internal no is a block to clear

Sometimes the pushback is an old belief or a conditioned response. Sometimes it's clarity: the goal might be fighting one of your real values, or it was borrowed from someone else, or the goal is right but the plan is poor. Clarify what's actually happening before reaching for a technique, because a pricing problem or a skills gap needs practical support, not tapping.

Clearing and rewiring change what’s possible inside; action makes it real

Tapping and neuro-rewiring don't make the outcome appear. What they can do is lower the emotional charge and help you work at a level beneath ordinary conscious conversation, so a more believable belief can start to hold. Then you take one of your three actions, because the internal work makes new action available, it doesn't do the action for you.

Let the win count

The old operating system only updates when you let new evidence land. Notice the times you handled it differently, made the offer, set the boundary, brought in more without losing yourself, and let that become part of what you know about yourself. Dismiss it as luck and the old pattern stays exactly where it is.

NOTABLE QUOTES

“Your reaction isn't a verdict. It's just some information that you need to have.”

“The conscious mind sees the reward, but the rest of your mind and body and your nervous system may be scanning for the cost of that reward.”

“That conflict isn't necessarily a subconscious block. It could be clarity that's trying to get your attention.”

COMMON QUESTIONS
Why does my manifestation or affirmation feel like I'm lying to myself?

Because your conscious goal is running into the beliefs sitting underneath it. Your prefrontal cortex likes the plan, but your deeper beliefs, values and identity run a background check and sometimes come back with "that's not us." That mismatch is what makes a positive statement ring hollow. It's showing you what still needs your attention rather than proving the goal is wrong.

Why do I self-sabotage goals I actually want?

Often it isn't sabotage at all. Your brain's alarm system is checking what the goal predicts, and if visibility predicts judgment or more money predicts more pressure, part of you pumps the brakes to keep you safe. That pull in the opposite direction is a protective prediction based on earlier experience, and it can be worked with once you see what it's guarding against.

Do affirmations actually work?

They can, but not when you repeat them over the top of a body that disagrees. Saying "I love being visible" while everything in you pulls away tends to widen the gap. What helps more is naming the conflict first, settling your nervous system, then building a belief that's believable enough to practise and backing it with action.

What is EFT tapping and can it help with limiting beliefs?

EFT tapping combines focused attention on what's bothering you with tapping on specific points on the body. It doesn't make the outcome appear, and the research is stronger on its effects than on exactly why it works. What it can do for some people is lower the emotional charge around a belief so you can see it more clearly and work with it.

How do I know if my resistance is a limiting belief or a real sign to stop?

Ask whether the goal is genuinely yours, what you think it will cost, and what value it might threaten. Sometimes the pushback is an old belief worth clearing. Sometimes it's clarity: the goal was borrowed from someone else, or it's right but the plan is poor. A pricing or skills gap needs practical support, not tapping.

Can you manifest something and still feel blocked?

Yes. You can have the desire, the vision, the written intention and the plan, and still feel something pulling the other way. That usually means your conscious goal and your underlying beliefs aren't pointing in the same direction yet. The work is getting your inner world and your real-life action lined up, which is when things tend to move faster.

TRANSCRIPT

The Spark

I want you to pull out the intention card from episode 11. Read the goal that you wrote as though it's already happened, and this is the example that we had. "I am so happy and grateful now that I am a visible, successful business owner making $10,000 per month."

And then I want you to pay attention to what's going on with your mind and your body. you might feel a little bit embarrassed even reading it when no one else is around. Maybe you can feel tightness coming in, or there might be that little voice, you know, the one that hangs out on your shoulder yammering in your ear going, "Yeah, bull dust."

Where We've Been

If you read the intention and it lights you up, then that's beautiful. Use that. But this episode is about what happens when it doesn't.

Over the past two episodes, we've completely pulled apart the manifestation conversation. In episode 11, we talked about manifestation being the outcome, not the method. And for people who begin with a clear vision, that process might move through desire, vision, intention, goals, and action before the outcome becomes manifest.

That's some people borrow belief from vision.

But in episode 12, we opened up the other pathway, which is other people build belief from evidence.

So one person can see that future and grow into it, but the other person starts growing first, and then the future's kinda slowly comes into view or catches up with them.

But underneath both of those pathways, the basic engine is still running. They're acting, so they're actually making a move, right? Doing something, action. They're gathering evidence. They're changing their beliefs through their experience. They're developing different skills, whichever that needs to be, and they're expanding their capacity within their nervous system.

So they're becoming someone who can create and hold something that wasn't available to them before as this beautiful thing comes to fruition.

So what happens when you have the desire, and you can see the vision, and you've written the intention, you know the goal, like all these steps are done, right? But something inside you is still, like, pulling you in the opposite direction or slamming on the brakes.

When Goals Meet Resistance

The intention card from episode 11 doesn't only show you where you wanna go. Now, depending on what your reaction was, it can show you what still needs your attention.

So let's bring that example back, all right? "I am so happy and grateful now that I consistently make $10,000 per month because of the way I've been showing up, serving my clients, and building my business.

This goal was really, really important to me because it gave me financial stability, allowed me to support the people I love, and helped me build my business without sacrificing every other part of my life.

The three actions I took were..." And then you'd list the actions. So maybe you made offers consistently, followed up with warm inquiries, or reviewed your revenue each week. That's what we'd made as the example.

On paper, it all makes sense. The CEO absolutely loves it. And remember, the CEO is your prefrontal cortex. It's the rational, conscious part of your brain that sets goals and is in control of executive functioning and those sorts of things.

The CEO looks at $10,000 a month and says, "Excellent. We've got a plan." But as we know, it's only one of the showrunners. It doesn't run the whole building.

Underneath it, the operating system is running its background check. So the operating system, remember, is your beliefs, values, and identity. It determines what fits, what feels possible, and what kind of person you understand yourself to be.

So the intention says, "I am visible, successful, and earning more money." And the operating system comes back with, "No, you're not. People like us don't make that kind of money. Being visible gets you criticized or worse. If the business grows, you'll have no life. More money means more pressure, not freedom. And if you become successful, people you love will think you've changed.

You say you want freedom, but the version of success that you're picturing looks like even more responsibility. That's not freedom.

And then the operating system does that background check, right? And goes, "This doesn't match anything we currently know to be true."

Then your guard dog and forecaster get involved. Remember, the guard dog is your brain's alarm system, and it's not checking whether the goal is logically good, and it's getting its information being fed from it from the forecaster, which is all about predictions. All right? So it's checking what the goal actually predicts.

So visibility might predict judgment. Growth might predict overwhelm, and a healthy relationship might predict the possibility of loss. Having more money might predict more responsibility, family conflict, or even becoming someone you were once taught not to trust.

The conscious mind sees the reward, but the rest of your mind and body and your nervous system may be scanning for the cost of that reward.

And that's why the intention can feel less like inspiration and more like you're lying to yourself.

It doesn't mean that the vision is impossible or wrong. We know that we can think things into fruition and people can do extraordinary things, and this is something that you consciously are wanting or desiring.

But there is definitely this conflict inside the building.

I feel like we need to stop treating every internal objection like a negative thought that needs to be slapped with another affirmation. Because sometimes the objection that we're having is an old belief or a conditioned response, and it's one of the apps that are automatically running underneath our conscious thought.

It can be a nervous system prediction based on an earlier experience that we've had in our lives, and sometimes the objection contains really useful information that we can actually help increase our growth and expansion.

So maybe the goal is fighting with one of your actual values,

maybe you want the income, but you don't want the business model required to actually get it, or the time it takes to bring that into fruition.

Maybe you like the idea of being known, but you don't want a life where your privacy disappears. Or maybe the goal was actually borrowed from somebody else. It was someone else's wants and needs for you to fulfill for them, but it's not actually your own.

Maybe you think you should want the seven-figure company and the big team and that packed calendar with the crazy social content creation because that is what success is supposed to look like and what we're told we have to do to get it.

But what if you really value depth and autonomy and enough spaciousness to enjoy your life?

That conflict isn't necessarily a subconscious block. It could be clarity that's trying to get your attention.

So that feeling or those thoughts that are coming up, that is your cue to pay attention to, because maybe the goal is right for you, but the plan itself is poor.

So you don't necessarily need therapeutic techniques or protocols or anything like that if what you're needing is actually training and financial advice and better systems, or even a conversation with someone like a business coach who's in that industry and knows what they're doing.

Sometimes the obstacle that we're facing and that pushback is internal, and sometimes it's actually practical, and what I've found over the years of working with clients is usually it's a mixture of both. So before we start trying to clear anything, we need to actually clarify what is happening.

The Process

The process that I wanna give to you today is notice, regulate, clarify, clear, rewire, act, gather evidence, and integrate. It sounds like a lot, but I swear it, it actually works really well together, and it's quite natural as you move through it. So the intention card gives us somewhere practical to begin with.

Notice

Notice. All right, so go read the intention slowly. So this is the one that we've done from episode 11. If you haven't done it, pause this, go listen to that, and come back.

Awesome. Now, don't race through it trying to feel positive, okay? I want you to actually notice what happens when you reach the goal. What are the thoughts that are happening in your mind? What are the sensations that are going on in your body, and where does your attention go?

Then read the reason it matters, that, that section of the card. Does that part actually feel true to you? Does it connect with something real, or does it sound like something you wrote because it seemed impressive?

Then I want you to read the three actions. Okay, so which one do you immediately want to avoid? Which action creates tension? Which one feels impossible or exposing or boring or likely to end in rejection?

Now, m- some of those may not be the case. You may not feel any of that, and that's fine. That means you're in alignment, which is great

but if that is coming up for you, I want you to notice that the language that your mind is using. Does it sound something like, "This won't work. I'm not ready. Who do I think I am? I don't want people to think I'm pushy. I'll do it once everything else, you know, settles into place," or when, like, life is normal or when I'm ready. I'll do it when things are good.

That reaction is the data that we're looking for because we're not treating every thought as fact and we're not pretending that it isn't there.

Regulation

The next step in the pathway is regulation. We wanna make sure that we're in a regulated space. So remember that this is our green zone, where we can have a little bit of activation and a little bit of deactivation happening, but we're in a, a good space. We have enough choice around it to be able to sit with those emotions.

Because you can't investigate this internal conflict properly if your whole entire system is basically going, "Danger, Will Robinson, danger," and trying to escape it.

So the regulation here doesn't mean making yourself completely calm, because again, that's not what regulation is. But it means making sure we're in that green zone, we have enough capacity to stay with what's happening without immediately shutting it down, running away, or arguing yourself into submission, all right?

So that might mean you need to do some grounding or some breathing techniques or orientation to the room is another really great one you could do. It could mean that you need to move your body. Go out for like a quick five-minute walk or do some pushups on the floor or something like that. Give yourself a moment before deciding what the reaction actually means.

So we're helping our CEO remain in the conversation whilst the guard dog is just a little bit active, but we're still in that green zone.

Because if the guide dog takes over completely, then everything starts to look like proof that that goal or the conflicts around it, but the goal itself is unsafe and you're not gonna be able to bring it into fruition

Clarify

We're gonna clarify it. So I want you to ask yourself, is this goal genuinely mine to begin with? What do I believe having it will require from me? What do I think it might cost me?

What would change in my relationships

What responsibility comes with it? What value could it threaten? And that means like the values that I hold, what could that threaten? What part of the goal feels unfamiliar or unsafe? What part feels genuinely wrong or unaligned

And then I'd like for you to ask, do I need emotional work here, practical support, or both?

Because not every internal no should become a yes, and sometimes the work is making the goal more aligned. Maybe you don't want $10,000 per month if it requires you to do double the work hours, but you do want $10,000 per month through a different offer structure or better pricing or a smaller number of clients, or maybe even a scalable product.

So the desire and the want isn't wrong, but it's the pathway that was conflicting with what actually mattered to you. So that clarification and going through that process lets you keep the outcome while changing the way you intend to create it, and that's just bringing you into alignment.

But it also gives you permission to let it go if it was never really yours to begin with or not really aligned to what you're wanting.

The Clearing Work

Once you know you're working with an emotional pattern, an old association, or a nervous system response, then we can begin clearing some of that charge that's around it. This is one of the places where tapping, like EFT tapping, you may have seen it, one of my favorite modalities, can become really useful.

Tapping does not manifest the outcome for you by any means. It doesn't make money magically appear or anything like that, okay? But what it can do is give you a bit of a structured way to acknowledge what is presently within you emotionally while working with the emotional and physiological, like, activation that's attached to it.

So instead of repeating, "I love being visible, I love being visible, I love being visible" as a, an affirmation or a mantra, when your whole entire body is like, "Uh-uh. I don't wanna be visible," we would say something like, "Even though parts of me wanna grow this business, another part of me is scared of what happens if people really see me."

And these would be setup statements. So you'd actually be on the side of your hand here tapping along as we say this.

So it would be, even though I want more money, I'm worried it will mean more pressure and that everyone will need something or want something from me.

So You're not actually endorsing the fear. It sounds a little bit like that because we're, we're taught not to focus on the negative, right? But tapping's a little bit different. What we're doing is we're actually bringing it into the room and we're acknowledging that there's something happening within us

Tapping combines focused attention on the issue or the concern or the problem or the block or whatever it is that's coming up, that emotional stuckness, with a repetitive physical process, which is the physical tapping, that can actually help some people stay present within their body while the emotional intensity begins to shift.

So we're not looking to force the guard dog to shut up here. It's more like we're giving it space to acknowledge what it's feeling. We're also giving that guard dog a different experience whilst the topic itself is more active. So the outcome can be held in awareness without the same level of, like, the alarm, the threat that happens. So as the emotional charge changes whilst you're tapping, you can often see the belief and, and things around it a little bit more clearly. You get some space, which is really good

The Rewiring Work

Then we move into a process known as neuro rewiring. So In my work, this involves hypnotherapy using focused attention, imagery, therapeutic suggestion, and rehearsal to work with the belief, response, and the identity underneath the goal that you're wanting to achieve.

Again, the rewiring process doesn't cause the manifestation to arrive, but it does help us work at a different level than our ordinary conscious conversations.

Once we've clarified the conflict and we've reduced some of that emotional charge around it, The rewiring gives us an opportunity to update the old app and install something that's more appropriate for the person or the environment that you're in now and the goal that you're going after.

The new belief needs to be usable, needs to be believable. So leaping straight from, "I'm terrified of being seen," to, "I love being seen by millions of people," that's gonna more than likely be way too big for your mind and body to actually accept. Your operating system is gonna be like, "Uh-uh."

A more useful bridge though could be, "I can become more visible while remaining grounded and discerning".

The goal isn't to create, like, a prettier sentence or the complete unrealistic opposite. It's to build the belief that, and response that our whole entire mind and body can actually start practicing.

Action

So we're gonna go back to that intention card again, and what were the three actions that you identified? I want you to pick one

the internal work that we're doing is meant to make the new action more available. It's not a substitute for action.

You can tap on visibility for six months, but at some point you're gonna actually have to let someone see the work, see you out there. You can rewire your relationship with money, but the offer still needs to be made so you can bring that money in. You can work on your fear of conflict, but the boundary actually still needs to be spoken.

The therapeutic work creates a different internal possibility, but the action brings that possibility into your actual life.

Gathering Evidence

Then we get to do the really fun part, which is where you go out and you gather evidence. Not only evidence that everything went, like, swimmingly well and perfect, but evidence that you handled it.

So it could be like, "Hey, I made the offer and somebody said no. I was disappointed, but I'm okay. The world didn't end, and it didn't feel like rejection in the same way. Or if it did, I handled that."

And this is where episode 12 comes back in. So belief gets built from evidence. Even for the visionary, it still happens. The vision may have helped you begin, but lived experience helps the new belief become more credible, right?

The operating system receives information that it didn't have before, and the forecaster updates what it knows, and then the guard dog learns that the predicted disaster doesn't always actually happen. And that means that the new app gets used, like it gets updated and used in the environment it was actually designed for.

That's really cool

Integration

Then we integrate all of this. So integration is what turns a good therapeutic session or a powerful insight into something that actually begins, becoming evident in ordinary life. You revisit the intention, you repeat the action, you notice what changed and what still creates activation. 'Cause that's gonna happen. There's gonna be a period of time where you're still gonna be activated. We're not perfect. We're human, living beings. Things happen. But you update the three actions as you learn, and you let the evidence count. And sometimes we as the type of humans that we are, we reach the goal, we do the thing, and sometimes we dismiss it. We go, "It was luck," or, "It wasn't a big deal," or, "Anybody could have done it," or, "It only happened once."

So it's really important that when we pull it off, we celebrate it, 'cause we need to allow that positive evidence to count. Otherwise, the old operating system never has a chance to change. So that integration means allowing the new experience to become a part of what you know about yourself. I did that.

I handled it differently. This is my new evidence. I'm not finished, but I'm not where I was either. And you repeat the process.

This isn't like a one-off or one-time manifestation formula, but it is a way of helping your internal world and your external behavior begin moving in the same direction and become in alignment.

And when you get into alignment, manifestation happens so incredibly quickly

Inside Inner Spark

This is also the kind of work we do inside my coaching program, Inner Spark.

We work with what happens when the conscious goal meets beliefs, emotional patterns, and your nervous system responses that are already running underneath it.

Through regulation tools, tapping, guided neuro rewiring, and real-life integration, you begin identifying the conflict and clearing some of that emotional charge. You start building a more congruent internal pathway and practice what it looks like to live it when it actually matters.

Inner Spark is designed to help you become more capable of taking the action and receiving the result But also, it helps you to create the capacity and that expansion of your emotional range so it holds in real life, even in the crazy moments and in the ebbs and flows. You have more access to yourself, to choice, to autonomy, and the ability to create the life you love that loves you right back

Wrapping Up

So go back to that intention card, read the goal, then listen to what happens underneath the words. Your reaction isn't a verdict. It's just some information that you need to have. Then I want you to clarify what it is, work with what actually needs working with, and change the goal if the goal isn't aligned, and change the plan if the plan is not the greatest.

Build the skill if it's missing, and when conflict belongs to an old belief or an emotional pattern, or even a nervous system prediction, don't just run an affirmation over it, okay? Regulate yourself first, then do the clearing work, then the rewiring work. Then take the action and let real life give you that new evidence.

So next episode is where we're gonna finish our little miniseries on manifestation, i'll see you there
